Legalweek – Business of Law Forum Highlights What GCs Want

The Business of Law track at Legalweek New York will focus on how GCs are making decisions

New York, NY – January 9, 2019From January 28, 2019, through January 31, 2019, 8,000+ legal professionals will gather at the New York Hilton Midtown for Legalweek, the week in which a series of innovative legal conferences and workshops combine to form the largest legal industry event. Legalweek brings together all facets of the legal profession to address the key challenges and newest technology facing the industry and uncover strategies to drive the business of law forward.

As part of Legalweek, the Business of Law Forum will take place on Tuesday, January 29th and Wednesday, January 30th. The forum focuses on innovation, pricing, the Big Four, a look with ALM Intelligence at law firm health by market segment, the future of legal services delivery, how general counsel’s needs are changing and how best to adapt to those needs.

“The Business of Law Forum brings together high-level thought leaders from law departments, law firms, the Big Four, consultancies and more to hash out what success looks like in the legal profession in this market and how to get there,” said Gina Passarella, Editor-in-Chief, Global Legal Brands. All this talk of change, however, is meaningless if it isn’t done with the clients’ needs in mind, which is why we have a particular focus this year on what is driving decision making in legal departments and the C-suite.”

The Business of Law Forum’s roster of speakers includes:

  • John Finley, Senior Managing Director, and Chief Legal Officer, The Blackstone Group
  • Julie Ortmeier, Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, Carfax
  • Christina Ackermann, EVP & General Counsel, Bausch Health Companies
  • Andrew Klein, CEO, Reynen Court
  • Mark Smolik, General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer, DHL Supply Chain Americas
  • Bradford Berenson, General Counsel, TPG Global
  • Ralph Baxter, Board Member of Intapp

Aside from our panelists, The American Lawyer Managing Editor, Ben Seal; Mid-Market Editor and Senior Staff Reporter Lizzy McLellan; and Business of Law Reporters Dan Packel and Roy Strom, will be present along with ALM Intelligence Principal Analyst Nicholas Bruch and Director of Research Steve Kovalan.
