Law Technology News Produces First-Ever “Single Theme” Issue, Reporting on Return of Optimism at LegalTech New York 2013 Conference

NEW YORK – April 1, 2013 – ALM’s Law Technology News today published a comprehensive look back at the lessons learned from LegalTech New York 2013 in its first-ever “single theme” issue of the magazine.

LegalTech New York, the largest legal technology event in the world, drew record crowds in late January as lawyers and legal technology professionals gathered to discuss the latest news related to topics such as Big Data and mobile computing.

In the April 2013 issue of LTN, available online at www.lawtechnologynews.com, the editorial staff recaps the highlights of the conference. It’s a handy reference for attendees, and a summary for those who could not attend. Among the lessons learned: Why the FBI is warning law firms to take cybersecurity seriously (and experts suggest cyberinsurance) and why corporate counsel are exasperated when outside counsel won’t provide budget estimates.

“There was a tangible buzz at LegalTech New York this year, full of enthusiasm and optimism,” said Monica Bay, editor-in-chief of LTN. “Our industry is transitioning again, embracing mobile and cloud computing, as well as Big Data analytics, and there’s a lot of excitement right now about the legal technology agenda.”

The April issue of LTN wraps up the most talked about conference sessions, influential keynote speeches and product launches. It also features:

  • “Bombs Away” — An essay by information governance expert Barclay T. Blair, which explores the privacy dilemmas created by publicly available information.
  • “Busted!” — Craig Ball explains how “happy accidents” thwart data thieves.
  • “Five Essential Questions” — The who, what, when, why, and how of disaster recovery.
  • “Compare & Contrast” — Sean Doherty reviews of cloud-based practice management offerings.
  • “Yahoo! Traitor?” — CEO Marissa Mayer’s controversial plan to ban work-from-home.
  • “Downpour” — A shower of new cloud products were debuted and demonstrated at the exhibit hall.

Law Technology News provides timely information and insight into the latest technologies, products, and services available for the legal marketplace, as well as analysis and commentary from industry experts and senior law firm and corporate counsel decision makers. It is distributed to more than 40,000 selected subscribers and is available on at www.lawtechnologynews.com. The magazine is published by ALM.
