“Independent broker-dealers, like their industry peers, are dealing with intense regulatory, technological and other changes in 2017,” said Janet Levaux, Editor of Investment Advisor. “The 2017 Broker-Dealers of the Year have shown they excel at supporting their financial advisors through these shifts and building mutual success.”

In the annual balloting overseen by Investment Advisor’s editorial staff, over 1,400 credentialed representatives of independent broker-dealers voted online through ThinkAdvisor.com. Since 1995, the broker-dealers receiving the highest average rating from their advisors have been named Broker-Dealers of the Year in four divisions, which are based on the number of producing representatives.

The leaders of the 2017 Broker-Dealers of the Year gathered in Chicago in early August to discuss how their work has shifted due to the DOL fiduciary rule and other changes within the marketplace, how technology best fits into their advisors’ practices and their firm’s business plans, and what they are doing to improve the lives of their advisors and communities.

The takeaways from this discussion will be presented as the cover story of the September 2017 issue of Investment Advisor, which will be made available on ThinkAdvisor.com here: http://www.thinkadvisor.com/Investment-Advisor/september-2017

Winners of second-place honors in their division include: Independent Financial Group, The Investment Center and Prospera Financial Services. Sigma Financial Corp., United Planners Financial Services and Peak Brokerage Services are recognized among the third-place winners.
