Publisher of The American Lawyer, The National Law Journal and Other Legal & Real Estate Titles Among List of Industry Honorees

NEW YORK – December 02, 2014 – ALM has been named among the Top Places to Work in Media in 2014 by Folio: Magazine, which recognized companies that foster creative, fun and productive workplace environments that create a foundation for innovation and success. ALM is one of only 18 media companies named to Folio’s inaugural list.

With more than 400 employees working out of its downtown NYC headquarters, and more than 300 additional staff located in 16 offices worldwide, ALM has consistently attracted and retained top talent by creating a culture of collaboration and communication.

“ALM prides itself in being an incubator for B2B digital media innovation and growth, so this recognition has particular significance for the organization,” said Bill Carter, CEO, ALM. “Investing in developing our internal talent is a top priority, and we constantly strive to recognize the hard work of our employees.”

Creative team building activities and retreats (from cook-offs to sledding events and drawing classes), robust employee recognition programs and quarterly town hall meetings hosted by Carter help keep employees focused on the value of teamwork and trust.

ALM’s investments in and rollout of digital projects over the last year have been aggressive, including the redesign of 18 publication websites, launch of the award-winning Law.com app and website and digital membership program. The successes of these projects are the result of fostering internal talent through stretch assignments and the development of new skills. Additionally, ALM believes in helping employees grow within the company by offering an employee tuition reimbursement program and bi-annual managerial training.

This most recent recognition follows the inclusion of three ALM executives – Jeff Litvack, Lenny Izzo and Nathalie Gorman – on the 2014 Folio 100, the annual list of the magazine and media industry’s innovators, entrepreneurial thinkers and disrupters. Additionally, Gorman, editor, Law.com, was recognized on the 2014 Folio Top Women in Media list. Law.com was awarded a 2014 Appy Award in the Best Media App category, and ALM received six 2014 Azbee Awards for editorial excellence from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.
