ALM Brands Scoop 6 Wins at 2015 Jesse H. Neal Awards
The American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel, The Recorder, and Texas Lawyer among honorees
NEW YORK – April 8, 2015 – ALM brands The American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel, Texas Lawyer and The Recorder made a strong showing taking home six wins at the 61st Annual Jesse H. Neal Awards —the most prestigious editorial honors in the field of specialized journalism. The ALM brands triumphed in five of the seven categories in which they were finalists, with The American Lawyer scoring three awards for Best News Story, Best Single Issue of a Magazine for its June 2014 edition and Best Range of Work by a Single Author, which went to Michael Goldhaber.
The Recorder walked away with a Best News Coverage Neal Award for its story “Federal Circuit Chief Steps Down Amid Controversy,” while the Texas Lawyer was recognized in the Best Theme Issue of a Magazine or Newspaper category for its “50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act” coverage. Corporate Counsel joined The American Lawyer in the Best News Story class for its feature story “The Lawyers Were Here.” For a full list of winners, click here.
The recognition comes on the heels of a period of significant growth and expansion for ALM, which recently completed the acquisition of Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory and Summit Professional Networks, as it moves to expand its offerings beyond the legal industry and increase its stable of publications. The media company is now home to a variety of non-legal industry trade publications such Investment Advisor, National Underwriter, InsideCounsel, Credit Union Times, Retirement Advisor, Claims, ThinkAdvisor.com, PropertyCasualty360 and LifeHealthPro, among others.
“This is a very exciting time for ALM brands as we continue our acquisition strategy and gain an even stronger foothold in specialized journalism,” said David Brown, ALM vice president & editor-in-chief for the legal division. “These awards are validation of the world-class content we constantly strive to provide to our readers and I’m very proud of everyone involved, whose hard work has resulted in this recognition.”
The Neal Awards follow a successful period for ALM, which is also being recognized as an Honorable Mention in three categories of the 2015 Folio: FAME Awards. The FAME Awards honor the best of the best in magazine events, spotlighting the fast-growing event initiatives in the magazine industry for all publications. Legaltech, ALM’s signature legal technology event, was recognized in the Best Overall Single Event B2B category, while The American Lawyer Awards were included among the Best Awards/Recognition Program list. ALM’s U.S.-China Legal Summit took the Honorable Mention in the Best International Event category. For a full list of honorees, click here.
Adding to ALM’s recent string of accolades, the Law.com app was named a finalist for min’s Best of the Web & Digital Awards in the Tablet App – Free App category. The Law.com app sets industry benchmarks in the digital space by providing the gateway to ALM’s 18 national and regional legal publications and an extensive set of legal blogs.
min’s Best of Web & Digital Awards recognizes outstanding social media, web and mobile initiatives among consumer and b2b magazines. The award ceremony will take place on May 11, 2015 at the New York Grand Hyatt. The list of finalists can be found here.
