ALM Announces Relief Initiative for Law Firms Affected by Superstorm Sandy

Three-pronged effort includes unique opportunity for three law firms to receive $2,500 cash stipend and free product bundle to aid firms with recovery

NEW YORK – November 9, 2012 – ALM, a leading provider of news and business information to the legal industry, today announced a pro-active initiative to help law firms in the Northeast that suffered major damages from Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath.

The program consists of three commitments from ALM, effective immediately: (1) A donation from ALM to the American Red Cross to assist with its relief efforts in the region; (2) The free replacement of Law Journal Press (LJP) and other books damaged as a result of the storm and subsequent flooding; and (3) An innovative project through which three eligible law firms whose business has been significantly impacted by the storm will receive relief aid to help them get back on their feet again.

“Our hearts go out to the families throughout the Northeast who were so tragically impacted by Sandy, including the dozens of ALM employees in the tri-state area who are still trying to recover from this natural disaster,” said Bill Carter, president and chief executive officer of ALM. “ALM is dedicated to serving the news and information needs of the legal community, so we feel a sense of responsibility to do what we can at this time to aid our customers in their efforts to rebuild.”

ALM’s law firm relief project is open to all firms in the affected states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. An ALM committee – comprised of publishers, editors and business executives from ALM’s offices throughout the Northeast – will select three law firms who will receive $2,500 cash to help them rebuild their practices. They will also receive a free bundle of ALM legal information products that includes their regional legal newspaper, SmartLitigator, VerdictSearch, a selection of LJP digital titles, and continuing legal education opportunities from CLECenter.com. They will also be eligible for significant discounts on subscriptions to select ALM legal products and publications.

Firms that wish to be considered for the project only need to register with ALM from the dedicated website for the Superstorm Sandy relief project (www.alm.com/services/superstorm-sandy-relief-efforts) and fill out a brief application.
