NEW YORK, NY –December 8, 2014 – ALM has announced the creation of a new leadership position, chief product & content officer, promoting Molly Miller, former publisher of The Recorder and Law.com to the new role. The company also announced the hiring of a new general counsel in top media lawyer Dana Rosen.

Since joining ALM in July 2012, Miller has led The Recorder staff through a major transformation, engaging with a new audience while driving growth from innovative new events and products. She has a diverse professional background, beginning her career as a reporter, qualifying as an attorney, and then moving to media. Before joining the ALM ranks, she spent 15 years at LexisNexis, most recently as Vice President of Customer Discovery and Innovation.

In Miller’s new role, she will put together a team to help her build out a transformative product and content strategy, as well as assess potential acquisition targets which can accelerate ALM’s speed to market. In the process, she will continue her role leading both the Recorder and Law.com teams.

“The information industry is in a state of rapid evolution, and the next phase of ALM’s growth strategy will be driven by a content and product strategy that uniquely positions ALM at the forefront,” said ALM President and CEO Bill Carter. “Molly has done an excellent job driving toward this goal in her role at The Recorder, and is well positioned to help ALM develop and execute a similar plan at the corporate level.”

Dana Rosen will step into her position as general counsel at ALM after spending eight years as GC to Wenner Media. She previously worked as an associate general counsel at the Penguin Group and as an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.  She also served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Shira A. Scheindlin in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. She graduated from New York University of Law.

Dana will oversee ALM’s legal department and will be responsible for all pre-publication legal vetting of editorial content, along with overseeing all claims and litigations. She will also oversee all contracts, and the legal aspects of all corporate transactions and partnerships.

“In the publishing industry, legal issues from defamation to licensing to copyright are constantly top of mind so we rely heavily on the advice of our general counsel,” said Carter. “Dana’s wealth of experience in media law makes her a perfect fit for ALM. We are excited to have her join our already strong team.”
