Experts to share insights regarding opportunities and challenges associated with doing business in Brazil, Russia, India, China and elsewhere

NEW YORK – October 2, 2012 – ALM’s The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel magazines today announced details for the Investing in Emerging Markets Summit, a one-day conference on October 17, 2012, at The Harvard Club in New York City.

The summit will feature experts and thought leaders from abroad who will share first-hand insights into the best practices and key tools needed to better understand the legal challenges of investing in emerging markets. Sessions will focus specifically on key laws and regulations that multinational businesses need to know when operating in Brazil, Russia, India and China (the “BRIC” countries) and in the Middle East and North Africa (the “MENA” countries).

The summit is geared for in-house counsel and law firm partners tasked with exploring opportunities and managing legal challenges in these markets, which are becoming increasingly important in the global economy.

The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Topics to be addressed include the following:

  • International trade: competition, antitrust, anti-monopoly rules
  • Combating bribery and corruption
  • Foreign direct investment: incentives and restrictions
  • Cultural considerations and business environment comparison
