ALM Acquires China Law & Practice from Euromoney

Deal Strengthens ALM’s Presence in Asian Legal Market

New York, NY – August 3, 2015 – ALM, a leader in specialized industry news and information, has announced a deal to acquire China Law & Practice, from the Legal Media Group of Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC (“Euromoney”). The deal, which comes on the heels of ALM’s acquisition of Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory and Summit Professional Networks earlier this year, will strengthen ALM’s strategic presence in the Asian legal market adding to the company’s stable of legal publications that include The American Lawyer, Asian Lawyer, Corporate Counsel and The National Law Journal. The transaction closed on July 31st.

“This is an important step as we look to expand our offerings in a market with tremendous growth potential,” said Lenny Izzo, President of Legal Media at ALM.  “What really attracted ALM to China Law & Practice was its strong subscription base and its focus on the practice of law, which serve as a nice complement to our other offerings in the region.”

China Law & Practice provides accurate translations and extensive analyses of PRC laws, as well as legal and risk management resources.  Its clientele consists of senior executives and in-house legal counsel, domestic Chinese companies, government organizations and leading law firms.  Its portfolio of online services includes a legislation archive, weekly news and legislation roundups and monthly sector-specific newsletters covering banking & finance, insurance, real estate & construction, capital markets and more. In addition, China Law & Practice reveals the top deals and law firms in key practice areas at the annual China Law & Practice Awards.

This marks the third acquisition by ALM since it was acquired by Wasserstein & Co., LP in July 2014.  Previous acquisitions included Summit Professional Networks and Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory.
