ALM’s Texas Lawyer Announces Winners of 2015 Legal Departments of the Year Awards
New York, NY – October 15, 2015 – ALM’s Texas Lawyer is pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 Legal Departments of the Year awards. The winners will be honored at an awards reception on December 2 at the Four Seasons in Houston.
Honorees are selected from Texas-based corporate legal departments that stand out in seven specific categories of achievement: Overall Legal Department of the Year, General Counsel of the Year, Outside-Counsel Management, Solo, Diversity and Quality of Life, Pro Bono and Community Leadership, and Rising Star. The awards are based on peer nominations of success stories such as a legal department that handled large amounts of litigation, navigated a company through change or a general counsel who started a legal department from scratch.
“This award showcases the high caliber of in-house lawyers in the Lone Star State,” says Editor-in-Chief Heather Nevitt. “Texas Lawyer is proud to profile these teams and general counsel and give them the recognition they deserve.”
The winners by category are as follows: Overall Legal Department Winner: Energy Future Holdings Corp; GC of the Year Winner: Sylvia Kerrigan, Marathon Oil Corp.; Outside Counsel Management Winner: Texas Water Development Board; Solo GC Winner: Sean Johnson, OOGC America LLC; Diversity and Quality of Life Winner: Linn Energy LLC; Pro Bono and Community Leadership Winner: CenterPoint Energy; and Rising Star Winner: Christopher Massey, Brookshire Grocery Co.
