Corporate Counsel Reveals “Who Represents America’s Biggest Companies”

NEW YORK – Sept. 19, 2013 – ALM’s Corporate Counsel, the nation’s leading source of news and information for general counsel and in-house attorneys, publishes its annual survey of outside counsel to the Fortune 500 companies, “Who Represents America’s Biggest Companies,” in the October issue. Following are the three most frequently cited firms in key practice areas along with the number of times they are mentioned for that area:

• Torts Litigation: Marshall Dennehey, 22; Wilson Elser, 21; Baker Donelson, 20.
• Labor Litigation: Ogletree Deakins, 54; Littler Mendelson, 51; Jackson Lewis, 41.
• Contracts Litigation: Hill Rivkins, 30; Ogletree Deakins, 28; Baker Donelson, 23.
• IP Litigation: Lewis and Roca, 7; Davis Wright Tremaine, 6; Loeb & Loeb, 6.
• Patent Prosecution: Morris Nichols, 50; Fish & Richardson, 36; Potter Anderson & Corroon, 27.

Only a few firms did well in both the IP litigation and patent prosecution categories. Fish & Richardson complemented its second place in prosecution with four litigation matters. Kirkland & Ellis boasted four litigations and 19 prosecutions.

The leaders in total mentions for all practice areas were Ogletree Deakins, 170; Littler Mendelson, 162; Jackson Lewis, 118; Morgan Lewis, 110; Seyfarth Shaw, 86; and Baker Donelson, 64. The Corporate Counsel survey is based on public records of 2012 matters.
