The compensation ratio is a ratio of a firm’s highest-compensated partner to that of its lowest-compensated partner. Both equity and nonequity partners are included. For example, if the firm’s highest-compensated partner received $1 million and the lowest-compensated received $100,000, the ratio would be 10:1. These ratios were all provided to us by the individual firms as part of the Am Law 200 survey.
