Senior Designer

ALM is seeking a Graphic Designer with great style and sophisticated design sensibilities, to be our new Design Supervisor. The Senior Designer will work with the Creative Director and Art Director to set the unique tone as well as the look and feel for each of ALM’s brands. Equally at home with online and traditional advertising, branding and/or direct response, the candidate needs to possess a deep understanding of design across all media. The right candidate possesses energy, a passion for the work, and a desire to deliver innovative successful solutions. The candidate will not only ensure the department runs effectively, but creates an environment that inspires creativity and the best design from the team. The right candidate will have creative vision, be able to think strategically and be able to effectively present these ideas. He or she will also be responsible for mentoring a team of designers.

Responsibilities:
• Understands the building of brands through consistent and effective usage of the brand imagery.
• Contributes to the development of creative strategies by having a strong creative point of view and the ability to effectively communicate ideas to the Creative Director.
• Produce design and communication material that pushes the boundaries of great design while maintaining the creative integrity of their assigned brands.
• Responsible for developing and executing creative concepts from ideation to delivery.
• Able to collaborate with and delegate creative assignments to other designers and copywriters.
• Keeping current with design and communication trends, technology and best practices. Collecting and distributing info to team members via blogs and social media.
• Provide clear, constructive and creative feedback to all designers.
• Manage the timeline and critical dates on assigned projects both internally and with vendors.
• Able to estimate projects time/cost and establish pricing structures for creative services.

Requirements:
• Experience with Adobe CS4/5 inDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, AfterEffects, Final Cut Pro, Quark, MAC OSX, MS office including PowerPoint.
• 5 – 7 years work experience as a Graphic Designer in publishing, media, or agency. Preferably minimum of 2-3 years in a leadership position.
• Strong traditional print production experience.
• Strong online and interactive media production skills
• Knowledge of ActionScript 3, HTML, CSS and email best practices.
• Social media experience.
• Video production experience.
• Strong writing, verbal, organizational and project management skills.
• Client management skills with the ability to collaborate and provide vision, direction and suggestions/solutions to design problems and assist in the copy writing process.
• Must be a poised professional able to excel in a fast pace, deadline-oriented environment.
